This is a surgical procedure that may be necessary prior to implant placement or construction of a bridge. If implants are the best option for you but x-rays reveal that the bone is not of the best quality and quantity, we will place a bone augmentation material, which acts as a matrix for your own bone to grow into that area.
You will have a couple of small sutures that will stay in place for approximately 5 days and be sore in the area concerned for a varying number of days.
We will review the area with x-rays after a month or so and the area is usually ready for implant placement after a further three months.
Sometimes a second procedure is necessary.
